Modest Tree is the creator of the award-winning Modest3D software for rapidly creating 3D interactive training solutions and virtual reality experiences. Modest Tree provides solution services, developing 3D immersive training solutions and marketing experiences utilizing virtual reality and augmented reality.  We work with leading global enterprises to help them develop and scale XR applications. We are recognized as a leader in training and defence and work with international clients who require solutions and software to visualize complex equipment or detailed processes. Modest Tree is North American Microsoft Mixed Reality Partner and has offices in Nova Scotia, Canada and Germany.

Based on increased demand for our XR (extended reality) solutions that support remote work we are growing and seeking to add high-calibre, experienced software developers to our team.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience

• 3+ years of relevant experience: software engineering, software testing, infrastructure (compute/network/storage) with an interest to develop in the other areas. Programming experience is essential.

• Experienced with server-side technologies like ASP.Net, NodeJS, databases and AWS/Azure.

• Experienced with DevOps practices, such as continuous integration, configuration management, etc.

• Scripting skills with at least one common scripting language such as Python and PowerShell.

• Basic Linux Skills will be a valuable asset.

• Advanced understanding of, and experience in git

• Understanding of docker and containers

• Currently holding or ability to obtain Canadian Government security clearances.

• A keen ability to learn new software applications and have a passion for technology.

• Ability to work independently within a dynamic and faced-paced organization.

• Possess strong organization and time management abilities.

• High level of attention to detail and committed to quality.

• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Excellent communication skills with Management, peers and clients and collaborates effectively with others.

• Experience with Agile Methodologies.

• Ability to support DevOps practices after hours, as needed.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES​

• Collaborate with the Software Development and Quality Assurance teams to maintain and execute the deployment strategy.

• Implement standards, processes, and controls for release and deployment activities in DevOps space

• Manage automated build, deployment and test of applications and system configurations across Modest Tree platforms, technologies and products.

• Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations.

• Configuration management of development infrastructure environments.

• Support the design and development of test automation pipelines to validate builds in the CI & CD processes.

• Monitor System Logs and metrics and troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test and production environments.

• Scale both our internal and external services.

• Support Software Development and Quality Assurance teams with any infrastructure services and issues.

• Research and identify new technologies to improve efficiency.

Compensation is based on the level of knowledge and experience. We offer a health/dental benefits plan and flexible work hours.
