GameDev Atlantic Conference to be Hosted On Modest Tree’s New Virtual Event Platform: Distantly

Halifax, Canada, September 18, 2020 – Modest Tree, a Halifax-based software development company specializing in the global distribution of augmented and virtual reality simulations and training, is releasing a brand-new virtual event platform–and it’s already hosting its first debut event.

GameDev Atlantic Conference (GDA) 2020 is being held virtually this year due to COVID-19, and the chosen platform for today’s event is Distantly, a brand-new virtual event platform developed by Modest Tree.

Distantly is a full-scale digital event platform that can be used for hosting virtual conferences, virtual trade shows, collaborative online meetings, and remote live training workshops. It offers seamless networking and collaboration opportunities, all hosted in one centralized virtual environment and backed by secure end-to-end encryption. Distantly was purpose-built to enable connections during virtual conferences and includes tools for pre-arranging meetings and connecting with conference attendees directly.

It was the obvious platform choice for a first-of-its-kind game development conference that dedicates itself to growing the game development industry in Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada.

Distantly’s exhibition hall, virtual booths, live presentations, event sponsors, and chat functionality will enable GDA to continue to host speaking sessions on a variety of gaming and game development topics, a trade show of local companies, as well as opportunities for networking, funding, and mentorship, all from the safety and convenience of a virtual environment.

GDA is a day-long conference for game development studios of all sizes, students, and individuals. This year will mark GDA’s third annual event, and the first virtual event to be presented by the Hal-Con Sci-Fi Fantasy Association.

“It was a pleasure working with GameDev Atlantic 2020 to provide technology for their virtual conference and to be part of connecting the Atlantic Development community, virtually,” states Modest Tree COO and lead project manager for Distantly, Emily Smits. “We are pleased that GDA selected Distantly as their platform of choice, and to be a part of enabling players in the development community to continue to make meaningful connections together.”

Distantly is currently available for early access. To learn more about its virtual event capabilities, visit www.distantly.com.
